Dear Reader Twas on the 23 May, nineteen hundred and eighty seven that we set off from Watford High Street Station for Watford Junction: and frankly we were lucky to make it that far. Blazing a trail that would be noticed by few but the occasional constabulary member, in a handful of continental metropoli, we, Dave and Wayne, soared like ostriches across the plains of modern day Europe. Our aim? To get to know those cousins with whom we shared a market, if little else. And thus on that bright new dawn, we hit the road, singing the mantra that would fill the kindest hearts of Europe with contempt and loathing (except for those very nice Swiss people and Olivier Jolie).
